Sharon Pentecostal Church

About Us Our Church

Sharon Pentecostal Church of God in New Zealand is proud to be affiliated with the Sharon Fellowship Church, Tiruvalla, founded by Pastor P.J. Thomas. The Sharon Fellowship Church has grown to encompass over 2,050 local churches across India and 34 other countries, and it operates 10 Bible colleges worldwide.

Under the leadership of Rev. John Thomas, the organization prioritizes theological scholarship. It boasts the only Pentecostal accredited seminary, Faith Theological Seminary in Manakkala, Adoor, which offers post-graduate degrees.

The "Sharon" name gained prominence through two significant revival meetings documented in a renowned Indian newspaper and the establishment of the Bible College at the Sharon compound in 1953. During a tumultuous period for Pentecostal churches in India, Pastor P.J. Thomas remained neutral, using the Sharon compound as a mediation site. The church experienced significant growth in the 1960s, driven by a mission-oriented vision that emphasizes both theological scholarship and pioneering ministry.

Sharon Pentecostal Church New Zealand was born from the prayers and vision of a few believers in 2023. They felt led to establish Sharon Pentecostal Churches across various cities in New Zealand, in affiliation with the Sharon Fellowship Council, to glorify God. The mission of SPC NZ is to fulfill the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20) through evangelism, church planting, missionary work, and promoting charitable and educational activities both within New Zealand and internationally. Currently, SPC-affiliated churches are present throughout New Zealand.
